For 2017 we have scheduled 2 of our very popular Nine Grasswren tours, now featuring a new itinerary. The 8 July departure commences in Mt Isa (Qld) and finishes in Adelaide (SA), while the 30 July departure commences in Mildura (direct flights from Adl, Syd & Mel) and finishes in Mt Isa (Qld). Both will be traversing the vast wilderness of the Bookmark Bioshpere, the scenically impressive Flinders Ranges and travel the length ofthe Birdsville track. Both tours visit the stark country around Winton for Rusty Grasswren before the grand finale in Mt Isa with Kalkadoon and Carpentarian Grasswren.

These tours will be a real adventure (yet fully accommodated), taking us through the heart of the outback during the Australian late winter season, generally a great time to go birding.

Expect to see around 200 species. In addition to the Grasswrens we also expect to see many other quality species such as Black-tailed Treecreeper, Mallee Emu-wren, Grey Falcon, Spotted Bowerbird, Spinifex Pigeon, Painted Finch, Spinifexbird and many more. We'll travel through some amazing scenery with unique flora and fauna.

If you're really keen you can stay on to join our 3-day Red Centre Adventure which runs from Alice Springs, straight after our Nine Grasswren tour!

The Northern Grasswren tour is an exciting new tour that can be taken as a stand-alone or add-on to our Nine Grasswren tour. It targets the remaining (ie. not found on our Nine Grasswren tour) current species of Grasswren including a few soon-to-be split. Commencing in Melbourne we fly to Alice Springs (for Dusky Grasswren, Sandhill Grasswren, Rufous-crowned Emu-wren), we will then travel the northern Australian outback and tropics using a combination of private charter plane and comfortable 4WD vehicle. We'll then spend a few days at our own secret spot near Kakadu to maximise our chances for White-throated Grasswren, plus all the other great birds of this National Park. From Kakadu we fly to the Mitchell Falls Plateau for Black Grasswren. Then it's off to the Broome Bird Observatory for a nice, birdy break before we hit the Pilbara for Pilbara Grasswren. Tour ends in Melbourne (Vic).

Expect to see up to 250 species. We'll travel through some amazing scenery with unique flora and fauna. In addition to the Grasswrens and other species listed above, we also expect to see many other quality species such as Gouldian Finch, Kimberley Honeyeater, Slaty-backed Thornbill, Grey Honeyeater, Western Bowerbird, Spinifex Pigeon, Painted Finch, Spinifexbird and many more... there's just too many to list here. Check out the brochure for more details!
